how did the vietnam war affect the presidencies of lydon johnson and richard nixon?

Also how did the presidental power change during the vietnam war?

The growing antimosity of American vs. American over the Viet Nam war ended both these presidents careers in one way or another. Johnson realized that he could not withdraw troops without admitting the American waste of life in a futile war, so he declined to run, allowing the war to end immediately. Nixon faced hostility due to events surrounding the war, but not directly due to it…he was paranoid (literally) and was convinced that antiwar elements were set to do him in. GW
