How many cell phones can I bring with me to Vietnam?
March 30, 2009 - Posted in Vietnam Vacation
I’m going to Vietnam for a month of vacation. I’m wondering if anyone knows how many cell phones I can bring with me before it becomes illegal?
Yes, if you don’t have commercial intentions, it would be fine. If you bring many but you can still prove those are for your personal use, there will be no problem. Btw, GSM phones would work well here; I’m not sure about things like IPhone but perhaps you will need to unlock if you bring it.
How importnant is taking Malaria tablets in Cambodia and Vietnam for 1 months stay?

As many as you'd like. It is legal as long as you don't have commercial intentions – then you'd have to pay tax. Most likely, your cell phone service will not work due to incompatible technology and limited international roaming services.

You can be reasonably sure that your incoming baggage will be x-rayed. So, if you have a notable number of cell phones in your checked bags, you might expect to chat with a customs official.
CDMA phones don’t work (although some newer services might be trying that technology – but I am not sure). Unlocked SIM card phones with the proper frequencies should work.
The information on what frequencies, etc., is easily found with google.
