how to ship my dog from USA to Vietnam?

April 2, 2009 - Posted in Vietnam Vacation

hi there, I have a dog, I plan my vacation to vietnam, but I can't leave him alone, no one will take care him and I don't want go without him. can someone helps me to find the way to take him to vietnam, I don't think the airlines will allow him is going with me.

This may not be worth it for a short vacation can you kennel him some place which would still be cheaper than taking him with you. You need to call your airline and make sure they will ship the dog. There are temp requirements. If it is below 40 and above 85 they will not ship him. If the flight is more than 12 hours they will not ship him the dog must be in a create that he can stand, turn around and lie down in and it must be airline approved. You must have 1 container for water and 1 for food some kind of padding in the create. Live animals stickers You have to take the dog to the vet withing 10 days of the flight and get a certifciate of heath saying the dog can fly and is in good shape. You have to make sure that vietnam will allow you to bring the dog into the country and see what requirement they have as for shots and chips. You need to see if where you are staying will allow the dog. Lastly the airline will charge you for the dog and its based on the dog size, creat size and where you are going. It is costing us 200 to ship our dog from Italy to the us. 100 for one fligh and 100 for our connecting flight in the states. Hope this helps.

Why are women in Vietnam only interested in foreign men with money?

  2. If you are planning to return, the best bet is to find a Kennel here in the US that will board your dog for a fee. You will need to supply food, treats and probably have to pay at least part of the fee up front depending on how long you will be gone. Its not worth it to try to take your dog with you and he will likely have to be quarrantined to get back into the country and I have heard that can be long. Also, air travel is not really that good for animals. During certain times of the year you can not ship dogs period due to temperature constraints. I think a flight to Vietnam is pretty long too and thats too much for a pooch to handle. Find a kennel here and leave Fido at home.

  3. Same thing as the first poster said, find a kennel. That would be much more humane for the poor animal. This is especially true if you cannot find anyone else to take care of the animal.

It's either that, or cancel your plans for vacation. You could always contact the airlines first if you really really want to do that, but I personally wouldn't put that much strain on an animal. That's too much.

Don't be fool. Follow the above answers. There are plenty of kennels in USA.
