I suggested you bring something that fit with the hot and humid weather of Vietnam this month. Long pants and shirt are too hot for the weather. The last time I went the mospital spray and sun screen work perfectly for me. I had not problem with mosquitoes bites or getting tan. Bring some OTC medications just in case since the medications over there can be fake.

  • You could bring some long thin cotton shirts and ditto for pants. I would bring some otc diarrhea medicine, and other medicines that wouldn't be as readily available there. I would speak to your doctor about malaria medicine, although I think the medicine is almost as bad as having malaria. I would get a large hat too. We have a hammock with a mosquito net attached and it's great for hot weather. I bought it online at REI or one of the camping stores. I don't know where you'll be sleeping, but it light and you are well protected as you sleep. I would also bring some baby wipes. I am not sure about Vietnam, but in Thailand, they didn't have Tp, just buckets of water to splash on your bum. I prefer baby wipes. Mosquito spray works if it's strong enough (pure deet) or you can treat your clothes with permethrin. THese are both very nasty chemicals, so you must weigh the risks. I like lemon eucalyptus bug spray (available online). We used it down in Mexico on the beach and it actually worked fairly well. You just need to keep applying it. There is only a short period of time when bugs are at their worst and you're awake. Bring some sort of bug net if you don't get the hammock.
